The purpose of this research is to adapt the multidimensional work motivation scale (MWMS) into Turkish culture which is frequently used in industrial and organizational psychology and has already been adpated into seven different languages (English, French, German, Dutch, Indonesian, Chinese, Norwegian) and to reveal evidence in respect to psychometric characteristics of the scale those were obtained from the collected data. The study was carried out in the context of relational research model and the research group of the study included the participants from different service sectors (academic, teacher, bank employer, employee who works in marketing, automotive, tourism sector and officer staff in the university). The scale is consisted of 19 Likert type items and six factors in the original culture. These sub-dimensions are amotivation, extrinsic regulation-social, extrinsic regulation material, Introjected regulation, Identified regulation and Intrinsic motivation. In the adaptation process of the scale, translation from English to Turkish and back translation from Turkish to English was done by English lecturers and necessary regulations were done in accordance with the suggestions of the experts. Therefore, linguistic equivalence study of the pilot form of the scale was done and the linguistic equivalency was provided. The applications were made as pilot and master practises by researchers in this stage. Confirmatory and exploratory factor analysis were conducted on the data set those were obtained from 166 participants and also item test correlations and Cronbach alpha coefficients were calculated in the pilot study. In consequence of the analysis dysfunctional items were revised based on the expert’s opinions. Revised master form of MWMS was performed on 506 participants and the psychometric qualifications of the scale was tested in the light of these analysis. As a result of the analysis, the same factor pattern as it is in the original culture was obtained. It was shown that compliance indices met the acceptable levels. Furthermore, it was determined that the reliability coefficient was in the acceptable levels (a>.70) in the context of internal consistency. In this frame, it can be reported that with the points obtained from MWMS, acceptable levels of validity and reliability were provided. Therefore, the scale which was adapted in this study is expected to be used in the field of industrial and organizational psychology and service sectors in order to measure the motivations of the servers.

Key Words: Multidimensional Work Motivation, Psychology, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Measurement and Evaluation
