Özet

Turkey is one of the richest countries when considering the number of species belonging to the Orchidaceae family. According to the results of studies conducted in recent years, approximately 170 orchid species growing naturally in Turkey have been identified. Antalya and Mugla provinces have approximately three-quarters of the Orchidaceae species found in Turkey. However, the salep flour produced from the tubers of dried wild orchids is used to make ice cream and a kind of beverage. Vast quantities of tubers are collected for this reason. Although tubers may not be exported anymore, they are still harvested and used within Turkey. According to the studies that have been conducted in the past seven years, it was observed that populations of some species have been seriously damaged in Antalya Province. In this study, critically endangered orchid species found in Antalya are listed, along with photos, descriptions and distributions. These species are Ophrys lycia Renz&Taubenheim, Ophrys climacis Heimeier&Perschke, Ophrys phaseliana D. Ruckbr.&U.Ruckbr., and Ophrys isaura Renz&Taubenheim. It was found that Ophrys lycia and Ophrys climacis are endemic to Antalya and populations of these taxa are under serious threat. Unfortunately, any location except of the type locations which are under threat in Antalya have not been determined in different provinces as a second spread area of these species. Another endangered species of Antalya are Ophrys phaseliana and Ophrys isaura.
