Özet

In this study we have focused on heavy metal (sample: Fe & Zn) concentration in the beach sand sediments of Manavgat - Alanya coastline of Antalya. The concentrations of these metals were found to be above the acceptable limits. The high concentrations of these metals could result from either from a natural (e.g. rocks, minerals) or anthropogenic source (e.g. industries, shipping vessels, emissions from trucks, domestic and industrial waste disposal and agricultural land use) that can cause adverse health effects to animal and plant lives, through consumption or direct contact with them. To carry out this investigation, the Graded Extraction Method of analysis (exchangeable fraction, water and acid soluble, reducing conditions, oxidizing conditions and remaining residue) was used in detecting heavy metals (sample: Fe & Zn) present in the beach sand. In this study, it was deduced that Zn is resulted from a natural origin while Fe is from an anthropogenic source.
