Özet

A clear understanding and appreciation of the student satisfaction proves to be fundamental in improving educational processes, enhancing the quality of education and evaluating the institutional efficiency. This study aims to determine the satisfaction levels of students and analyze the satisfaction levels on the basis of certain variables. The study sample included 229 students (182 nursing students and 47 midwifery students) attending to a health college in the south of Turkey. The data were collected via a demographic data form and a student satisfaction questionnaire between March 1 and March 30, 2008. In light of the results, it was concluded that the participant students were satisfied with the processes of measurement and evaluation, information/participation in decision-making and the quality of education. However, it was also noted that the satisfaction levels were generally low among students. It was further reported that while there were no differences between the satisfaction scores in regard to the departments and academic achievement, a significant difference was found in regard to the school years. The study results affirmed the necessity of planning new initiatives to increase student satisfaction.
