Özet

Objective: To evaluate the diagnostic efficiency, advantage and disadvantage of virtual colonoscopy in the detection of colon pathologies by comparing with fiberoptic colonoscopy. Material and Methods: We evaluated 45 patients with heavy or microscopic rectal haemorrhage, significant weight loss and intolerable to fiberoptic colonoscopy, aged between 33-79 (mean 59 +/- 13.86) years, with 16-detector-row computed tomography (CT) Colon pathologies were classified as polyp, mass, diverticule, Crohn's disease, colitis ulcerosa and nonspecific colitis. Multiplanar reformat images, multidetector CT (MDCT) colonography and virtual colonoscopy images were compared with fiberoptic colonoscopy. Results: The sensitivity and specificity of CT colonography-virtual colonoscopy for colon pathologies were 91% and 92% respectively. Percentage of correct diagnosis of CT colonography was 91%. Conclusion: MDCT colonography-virtual colonoscopy had a higher sensitivity and specificity in the diagnosis of colon pathologies compared to fiberoptic colonoscopy.
