Özet

Antalya is the largest city at the Turkish Mediterranean coast with high population increase rates. During the last 25 years, the population has increased five fold, whereas the residential areas expanded by 25 times. One of the main consequences of this development is the stress placed on the local environment, water supply resources and waste disposal infrastructure. It is clear that degradation of any of these assets would have a negative effect on tourism, which is the city's most important source of income.
