Özet

This study was carried out to understand the distribution of soil particles along a soil profile on a karts landscape in the Antalya region of the Mediterranean Turkey. Three soil profiles were opened, one on the convex slope, second on the colluvial footslope and the third on the alluvial plain. Soil samples were taken from the profiles K1 and K2 at 10 cm intervals and from every horizon for the profiles K3. Particle size analyses results obtained showed that particle size distribution of the soils on colluvial foot slope and alluvial plain related to materials transported from upper slopes. Therefore on the lower plains it is possible to see layers of red fine soil material and white travertine particles in a sequence indicating the extent of land use and soil erosion process. Soil erosion in the study area is one of the main factors modifying the particle size distribution and the depth of soils.
