timine geçiştir. Birinci Meşrutiyet, hem Avrupa devletlerinin baskısı hem de çökmekte olan Osmanlı İmparatorluğunun yenilenmesi ve yaşatılması amacıyla ilân edilmişti.
İkinci Meşrutiyet ise çökmekte olan Osmanlı İmparatorluğu kurtarmak amacıyla ve u-zun süren bir baskı dönemine tepki olarak ilân edilmişti. Bu çalışmada, Osmanlı İmparatorlu-ğu’nda yapılan Meşrutiyet kutlamaları; İkinci Meşrutiyet ve beraberindeki genel af, The Times Gazetesi’ndeki haberler değerlendirmeye alınarak incelenmiştir.
Bu konuyla ilgili yedi haber değerlendirmeye alınmıştır. Haber tarihleri kronolojik ola-rak şöyledir: 30 Temmuz 1908, 31 Temmuz 1908, 01 Ağustos 1908 (Bu tarihte aynı konuda iki ayrı haber yayınlanmıştır), 09 Ağustos 1908, 15 Ağustos 1908 ve 21 Ağustos 1908’dir. Bu ha-berler İkinci Meşrutiyet, İkinci Meşrutiyet ilân edilirken çıkarılan af, İmparatorluğun çeşitli yerlerinde ve yurt dışında yapılan kutlamalar, Padişahın genel affı, bir grup aydının affı protes-tosu, affın uygulanmasındaki aksaklıklar ve Van’daki Ermeni siyasi mahkûmlardan iki yüz yir-misinin serbest bırakılması konuları ile ilgilidir.

One of the incidents that marked an era of the last century of the Ottoman Empire is the transition to monarchy. The First Monarchy was declared by the pressure of European states and for the purposes of restoring and keeping alive the crumbling Ottoman Empire.
The Second Monarchy was declared to save the crumbling Ottoman Empire and as a reaction to a long lasting period of oppression. In this study, celebrations held in the Ottoman Empire in the name of Monarchy; the Second Monarchy and the accompanying amnesty were examined by the assessment of news in The Times newspaper.
Seven articles on this subject were assessed. The chronological order of the news is as follows: 30 July 1908, 31 July 1908, 1 August 1908 (two separate articles were published on the same subject on this date) and 21 August 1908. These articles are about the Second Monarchy, the amnesty granted with the declaration of the Second Monarchy, celebrations held in different places in the Empire and abroad, amnesty by the Sultan, the protest of a group of intellectuals against the amnesty, troubles in the implementation of the amnesty and setting free 220 Armenian prisoners in Van.
