Özet

The Mediterranean region of Turkey has great ecological advantages to obtain an early artichoke production. In this study the main aim was to get early yield as well as quality. A three year old plantation established with Sakiz cultivar was used as plant material. Plants, irrigated at the first week of September 2004 to awakening, were subject to the following treatments; 1) 25 ppm GA(3) 5 weeks after awakening irrigation followed by another 25 ppm two weeks after the first one, 2) Mulching with black plastic (0.02 mu m), 3) Agryl for covering plants, 4) Mulching + Agryl, 5) Control. According to the results obtained from the present study, Mulch+Agryl treatment gave the earliest yield compared to the other treatments.
